MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 14, 2021 MONTHLY SUPERVISORS’ MEETING
The Mahoning Township Supervisors held
their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. which
was help at the Mahoning Township Building.
Chairman, Gary Pezzuolo called the meeting to order by asking everyone
present to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. flag.
ROLL CALL was taken by Jean Greco, Secretary. Members present were Vito Yeropoli, Mark Sackin
and Gary Pezzuolo. Township Solicitor, Engineer, and Police Chief were also
present.
Pezzuolo asked for
any guest speakers and/or guests to share their concerns.
Pezzuolo asked for motion to PAY THE BILLS as prepared by Greco since the last month’s meeting. The motion was made by Yeropoli and seconded
by Sackin with a vote of all in favor. Pezzuolo
asked for a motion to PAY THE PAYROLLS as
prepared by Greco since the last month’s meeting. The motion was made by Sackin and seconded
by Pezzuolo with a vote of all in favor.
TOWNSHIP
REPORTS were given as follows: ZONING by Greco – 2 building permits, 1
fence permit. Greco further noted there are
2 subdivisions for September planning to meet and present at the next meeting. The POLICE
DEPARTMENT report by Chief Robert Sipe with156 total incidents for the
month of July 2021.
Pezzuolo asked for
discussion for any UNFINISHED BUSINESS in which resident Ed Klamer brought up the
topic from last meeting on the tax for paving roads. Greco reported 1 mill would produce
approximately $125K in revenue which is enough to pave .76 miles of road. Klamer asked if any residents had feedback on
support of this tax. Marcy Romano and
Yeropoli mentioned doing a survey Klamer
expressed frustration with the lack of support and the ongoing condition of the
township roads.
Resident
Anthony DeRose and his wife expressed concerns of Jacobson Road and the drainage
which likely causes the road damage.
Discussion ensued and the supervisors agreed that if any road funding
remains in 2021, it could be direct to Jacobson.
Resident Dave
Rodgers expressed drainage issue on River Road as well.
Resident
Joe Sallman expressed the need to increase revenue in the township vs. raising
taxes to increase revenue.
Randy
Peace expressed the need for those who regularly attend meetings to tell their
neighbors to attend the meetings.
Moving
onto NEW BUSINESS Pezzuolo asked for a MOTION for the ANNUAL RESOLUTION
to for the MMO of RETIREMENT FUNDS FOR THE UNION EMPLOYEES. Sackin made the motion which
Pezzuolo seconded and the vote was all in favor.
Next, Pezzuolo
asked for a MOTION for the ANNUAL RESOLUTION
2021 - 2 to for the MMO of RETIREMENT FUNDS FOR THE UNION EMPLOYEES. Sackin made the motion which Yeropoli
seconded and the vote was all in favor.
Pezzuolo reminded residents of the
next meeting date Tuesday, October 13, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
Pezzuolo asked for any other discussion. Residents Walter and Eleanor Patton expressed
concern with the weeds and trash around the Edinburg Fire Station. Pezzuolo said he would discuss this with
Poncho Exposito and see that things were cleaned up. The Patton’s further stated they would not be
able to maintain the Memorial any longer.
There being nothing further at 6:42
p.m., Pezzuolo made a motion to ADJOURN
which was seconded by Sackin with a vote of all in favor.
