MINUTES OF THE JULY 13, 2021 MONTHLY SUPERVISORS’ MEETING
The Mahoning Township Supervisors held their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. which was help at the Mahoning Township Building. Chairman, Gary Pezzuolo called the meeting to order by asking everyone present to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. flag.
ROLL CALL was taken by Jean Greco, Secretary. Members present were Mark Sackin, Vito Yeropoli, and Gary Pezzuolo. Township Solicitor, Engineer, and Police Officer Hedland were also present.
Pezzuolo asked for any guest speakers and/or guests to share their concerns. Resident Russell Mason of 563 East River Road shared facts and his opinion and concerns of the condition of River Road. Greg DelPrincipe shared that pictures have been sent with hopes of obtaining grant money to help better this road especially when heavy rains occur. Pezzuolo noted a meeting with the County Commissioners scheduled for the next week and this issue would be brought to their attention to ask for additional money as well.
Residents of Hillsville Road to include David Natale (#2230) and David Sinkovich (#2229) expressed concerns of dump trucks and large equipment using Hillsville Road and causing damage to the roadway.
Resident Virginia Phillips requested pipes on Jacobson Road be unplugged since the last heavy rain. This is an ongoing issue. Every time road workers unplug the pipe, after a heavy rain the pipe is plugged again. She has not complaints with road department. Gary asked Poncho and Mark to blow out the pipes in the ditches.
Pezzuolo made a motion to PAY THE BILLS as prepared by Greco since the last month’s meeting. Sackin seconded the motion with a vote of all in favor. Pezzuolo asked for a motion to PAY THE PAYROLLS as prepared by Greco since the last month’s meeting. The motion was made by Sackin and seconded by Pezzuolo with a vote of all in favor.
TOWNSHIP REPORTS were given as follows: ZONING by Greco – 4 permits. Greco further noted there was no activity to report by the Planning Board. The POLICE DEPARTMENT report by Officer Scott Hedland with138 total incidents for the month of June 2021.
Pezzuolo asked for discussion for any UNFINISHED BUSINESS in which there was none.
Pezzuolo asked Greco for COMMUNICATIONS in which she noted phone issues when calling in to leave a voicemail. A repair tech is to be coming to fix the issue once he recovers from surgery.
Pezzuolo asked DelPrincipe to open PAVING OF EAST MAIN STREET AND BAIRD ROAD. These bids were received by Greco and remain sealed, dated prior to 12:30p.m. on July 13, 2021. 2 bids were opened and reviewed. ProTech bid $125,254.37 and YoungBlood bid $124,146. DelPrincipe checked the mail and confirmed the bonds were present. Pezzuolo made a MOTION TO ACCEPT the lower bid which was seconded by Yeropoli with a vote of all in favor.
Pezzuolo asked for further discussion. Resident Jennifer Cooper of 354 Jackson Street asked of procedure for removing an easement. Perrotta gave to her direction of submitting paperwork to be reviewed by the planning committee.
Pezzuolo reminded residents of the next meeting date Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
There being nothing further, 6:40 p.m., Pezzuolo made a motion to ADJOURN which was seconded by Sackin with a vote of all in favor.
